Happy
Turkey Month! (well, probably not to the turkeys....)
Last month I got the newsletter out a few days early...I
thought I would use my "rollover" days as
an excuse for this one going out late! That's allowed,
right?
Lots going on, as usual. Most importantly,
I hope you have made your plans to join us at Pacific
Art Glass on December 8th for our big holiday meeting,
starring the lovable pun-meister herself, Ms Sharon
Peters! (YAY! cheers from the crowd!) Sharon will be
our guest demo artist and her demo bead will be up for
raffle! Along with LOTS of raffle goodies we will have
plenty GOOD FOOD too! (more details to come) And you
know, December is when we get the "BIG" stuff!
So please plan on being at PAG on the 8th starting at
10 am. We are asking members to bring a bead/beads,
preferably a purple heart, to be donated to the Beads
of Courage organization. This is a wonderful group that
helps child cancer patients. Please go to their website
and read more about them. A portion of our raffle proceeds
will also go to Beads
of Courage.

Now back to November - this coming weekend, 10th &
11th is the BABE! show in Oakland, CA. This is a HUGE
show with many of your favorite glass artists and it's
a great show to pick up unique findings and fun beads.
Plus there are many classes starting Wednesday. BABE!
is held at the Oakland Marriott, which is across the
street from a BART station. It's very easy to get to.

Bronwyn
Heilman of Ghost Cow Beads will be teaching her unique
glass painting techniques at The Mandrel on December
1st & 2nd. This is a great class, exploring more
than just making a glass bead. Please check out the
website: www.themandrel.com
for more info. There are only a couple spots left...

Last month, the L.A. Bead Society held their semi annual
bead bazaar at the Culver City Veteran's Auditorium.
It was a fun show and the So CAl Flame Surfers once
again had a booth promoting the club. I hope we enticed
a few more glass enthusiasts to join us at our next
meeting. Thank you to Barbara Birbeck for organizing
the booth and to all who helped man the booth throughout
the day. (I apologize for not having a list of helpers,
I'll thank you at the next meeting!) BTW, I have a small
Halloween goodie basket that was filled with lollipops....let
me know who's that is...I will bring it in December.
The So Cal Flame Surfers held their September meeting
at Winship Designs in Torrance, which was a lot of fun!
Sad but true, Winship has since closed its Torrance
doors...HOWEVER, they are still going strong through
Logistics
Worldwide, which is located in Compton. This is
not a "walk-in" showroom, however, you can
place an order and pick it up if you like, or have it
shipped. The shop in Eugene, OR is Winships main store
and open to the public. So next time you're in Eugene,
stop by and say hello! Thanks Dave, and good luck to
you and the rest of your crew. We'll miss you!
Please, remember to check the website for any news....or
if you have any important announcements/upcoming events,
contact our wonderful webmaster, Carey admin@socalflamesurfers.org
Have a lovely Thanksgiving holiday. Be safe and go
easy on the pie! We look forward to seeing you ALL in
December!
Cheers!
