An exhibition exploring contemporary glass beadmaking

International Society of Glass Beadmakers

To commemorate The Bead Museum’s 20th Anniversary and it’s catalyzing role in the formation of the ISGB, the two organizations are building upon their historical relationship to mount a joint exhibition that explores the creative and technological advances in this art form since the early work of the founding members of ISGB.

Trajectories will open at The Bead Museum in Glendale on September 15, 2006. Following its close on March 16, 2007, the exhibit will travel to selected locations across the US. Exact locations and dates will be announced.

This exhibition will show the diversity of this art form, representing artists who have a significant history with the glass art bead movement who create beads by all methods including lampwork, sculptural lampwork, furnace work and kiln formed.

Jury
This distinguished jury panel includes,
Gabrielle Liese, Jutta-Annette Page , Stevi Belle, Jim Kervin, and Christy Puetz.

The artists’ description of the bead, techniques and materials used will accompany each entry to assist in the jury process. All work must be a bead of original design. To be classified a bead; a hole must go all the way through the piece. Jewelry will not be considered.

Catalogue and Postcards

Accepted artists will be featured in the exhibition catalogue. Participating artists will receive one complimentary catalog. Participating artists may pre-order additional catalogues at a discount of $5 off the cover price of US $20. The discount is available only for pre-publication orders which may be placed when artists are notified of their acceptance into the show. Commissions and royalties do not apply to catalogue sales.

Application and Entry Guidelines

Entry forms may be obtained at www.isgb.org/traj or www.beadmuseumaz.org. Images may be submitted via email as attachments or via CD-Rom disc. Images of actual work being submitted are preferred, however close comparison work will be considered.

Entry Form Complete entry form in its entirety and attach it to your email. Include your phone number and email address. If sending a CD-Rom disc include the entry form and artist statement as separate saved files on the CD.

Images Include images of 3 works – 2 views per work may be included for a total maximum of 6 images. You may submit both current and older work.

Submit email image files to: csaker@beadmuseumaz.org. JPEGs submitted by email must be Best Quality (12), 300 dpi.

Include accurate labeling in image titles. Images should be marked with your name, medium, approximate year of creation and title.

For those with limited email capabilities a CD-Rom disc of the images noted above can be mailed with your entry form to: Carol Saker, The Bead Museum, 5754 W. Glenn Drive, Glendale, AZ 85301 to arrive no later than September 16, 2005.

Artists will be notified of their acceptance by email. All digital files submitted by accepted artists will become the property of ISGB and The Bead Museum.

Artist Statement A separate text document should be attached with your name, title of work(s), medium, size and numbers that correspond to the entry form. Include an artist statement of 50 words or less to be referenced for catalogue copy. Briefly describe your beads, citing technique, inspiration, etc.

Entry Fee
A $20.00 non-refundable entry fee must be included with your submission. MasterCard & Visa are accepted. International entry fees must be paid by credit card and are in US dollars.
