September....the beginning if the busy time of year! (as if it hasn't been busy ALL year!)

September could mean back to school for you or the kids, or it could be that you you can enjoy the beach with out the summer crowds...or the quiet house with out the kids!

Well there are plenty of bead related events coming up this month, including the So Cal Flame Surfer's 3rd quarter meeting. The September 15th meeting will be hosted by Winship Designs in Torrance. Our theme is "Fall Harvest" for both the bead exchange and pot luck. What does Fall Harvest mean to you? Autumn veggies and fruits, pumpkins, Halloween, cinnamon and apple pie, the seasonal color changes, red, orange, yellow? Joe Rooks of Incalescence will be our guest artist. I am sure you will enjoy watching Joe’s creative imagination right before your eyes! And speaking of creative artist, we will be announcing our very special guest artist for the December meeting. We will have a big pot of turkey chili and fixin's...and it will probably be 85° that day. That's So CA for you! Bindy will be sending out an email with more food details. The 2nd Annual Fall Best Bead Show will be held on September 7th, 8th and 9th at the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson. I know, not real close by but well worth the trip! Hotels are much more affordable this time of year and the show includes a LOT of glass artists as well as continuing demos throughout the weekend. This year, Carlisle will be setting up several of their torches for lampworkers to actually try out. That's a great opportunity if you are in market for a torch and not sure what to get. The L.A. Bead Society will hold their annual Fall bead bazaar on October 28th. The So Cal Flame Surfers will have a club booth and we encourage members to join us that day to promote the club as well as show off your beads. We will have a sign up sheet at the meeting or please contact Barbara Birbeck for more info. barbbbeads@earthlink.net
