Summer is cruising along...and I love the weather we've
been having...well, at least by the beach it's been cool
in the morning, then warm and breezy in the afternoon.
(good for torching!) And how about that earthquake!!
August
is a busy month, especially this year with the ISGB
Gathering being held in Oakland. I hope there are a
lot of you that will be going to the Gathering. This
will be my first one and I am looking forward to the
whole experience!
For more info on the Gathering, please check out the
ISGB website:
www.isgb.org
This
weekend, August 2nd & 3rd, the Bead Society of San
Diego County (BSSDC) will be hosting their 9th annual
bead bazaar in San Diego at the Scottish Rite Center.
This is a really good bead show! Lampwork beads, silver,
crystals, pearls, all kinds of accent beads, lampwork,
PMC and polymer clay demos, easy access from the freeway
and easy parking. Check out the BSSDC
website for more info. I hope to see you there!

If
you miss the San Diego bazaar but still need a bead
fix, August 8th, 9th and 10th there is a Gem Faire going
on at the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds as well as a few other
areas this month. Check their schedule here:
www.gemfaire.com/schedule/index.html

Then the following weekend, August 15th thru the 17th
is the Pasadena Bead & Design Show. www.pasadenabeadanddesignshow.com
September 20th is the date for our 3rd quarterly meeting,
which will be held at Brea Bead Works. We are very excited
about this new meeting venue and I hope this makes for
an easier drive for the ones who normally have a long
drive to the meetings. The bead exchange is "Potluck"
so basically, anything goes! we are planning to have
a "Swap Meet" so bring tools, glass, beads,
anything you want to "swap". More details
in the September newsletter. Make your plans to be there!
I
know Tucson is not our "backyard", but I guess
because I drive there a couple times a year, I think
of it as being close. Therefore, the Fall
Best Bead Show will be held on September 5th, 6th
& 7th. Good show, lots of lampwork artists and a
ton of classes too.

Hotels are cheap this time of year and plane fare is
reasonable, if you don't feel like driving.
I told you August is a busy month...I wasn't kidding!
I'm sure I will see some of you at one or more of the
events listed above. And if not, see you at the September
meeting! As always, please check the SCFS website for
schedules, Featured Artists and general information.
Cheers~
