Our next meeting is at Pacific Art Glass on September 9, 2006 from 10am to 1pm. For this quarters meeting our bead exchange will be Fall colors/organics. We have some exciting new things we will be doing at this meeting. The demo TBA. Please bring your beads for show and tell.

Pot luck assignments
A-F chips and dips
G-K desserts
L-P side dishes
Q-U salads
V-Z water and sodas

Also please remember to go to our logo page and vote for the logo you like. Send an email to admin@socalflamesurfers.org with your favorite pick. Please put something in the subject of the email so I know it's not spam. Something like "logos" or "SoCal Flamesurfers" will work. The winner will receive a $100.00 gift certificate to The Mandrel.

Rich Shelby, one of our SoCal FlameSurfers members would like the help of our group. His request is below:

You know those little pieces of stringer that you get that are about 2" long or less that you don't use? I have found a way to use them in making marbles. I'd like our group (or those who want to do it) to save them and not throw them away but give them to me. They MUST be moretti glass please as I don't want to mix my COE's.

If you'd like to help Rich, please save your little pieces and bring them to the meeting in September. It will be fun to see what he is doing with these little pieces. I always have lots of little pieces of stringer/twisties that I throw out. Thank and see you in September.

We hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend!

Summer is here! So what better theme for a bead exchange than a “Beach Bead” theme! Our June meeting at Pacific Art Glass was a lot of fun. Not only did we exchange beautiful beach beads, we enjoyed a delicious (and filling!) Mexican pot luck feast and were then treated to Pam Pitts demoing her marvelous marbles using Effetre and Lauscha! By the way, Pam will be teaching a marble class on September 23rd at The Mandrel in Redondo Beach.

Lots of goodies were raffled off, including gift certificates from San Gabriel Bead Company, odd lot Vetrofond bundles from The Mandrel, Olympic frit packs, enamel packs from PAG and even a couple of rods of the popular Double Helix Kronos generously donated by our own Charlie Warner.

We hope you will join us at our next meeting which will be held on September 16th at Pacific Art Glass starting at 10:00 am. Please check this site often for updates. We will announce the bead exchange theme and as well as the demo artist very soon. Thanks for checking in!

We are having a logo contest for our SoCal Flame Surfers. Please submit logo ideas and designs before August 15th. Please send as many design ideas as you can come up with to Carey via email. If you drew your masterpiece on a napkin or piece of paper, and have no way of scanning it in to your computer, you can contact admin@socalflamesurfers.org; I will give you my address to send your napkin, and scan it in for you.

Voting will take place between August 15th and September 5th. Vote for your favorite by sending an email to admin@socalflamesurfers.org and the tally will be announced at the next meeting. There is a great prize if your logo is chosen as the favorite....a $100 gift certificate to The Mandrel.
