cupcakesHappy New Year Flame Surfers! I hope your holiday was filled festive fun and cheer!
Great December meeting to finish up 2010! Thank you to everyone who attended and for all the positive feedback about the meeting too. As always, there were LOTS of goodies in our raffle including a Mega Minor torch, a Creation Station, bead rollers from CG Beads, a bead capper fromRetro Tools, TONS of glass from Double Helix…just to name a few. And the pot luck was tasty as ever!

I was glad to hear you all enjoyed Lori Greenberg’s demo of tips and trick using a variety of presses. And of course, the inspirational Jean Baruch, talking about Beads of Courage. I hope you were able to catch the BOC story on CBS Sunday Morning a few weeks ago. If you wereLori Greenbergunable to see it, you can check it out HERE. Our next meeting will be on March 19th at the newThe Glass Studio in Highland Park.

Beads of Courage Fund Raiser

We (SCFS) are extremely excited about hosting theBeads of Courage Fund Raiser on April 16th at CBS. This will be a full day of glass demos, plus open torch to make beads for BOC (must sign up prior), a Beads in Space“boutique” that volunteers are welcome to sell their finished jewelry (a portion of the sales to BOC)  plus make and take tables and of course, food! We will need lots of volunteers, (min. 2 hours or more if you like) so if you are interested and did not sign up at the Dec. meeting, please email me at judy@jujeebeads.com and I will add you to the list. Please include your phone number. More details to come, but please mark your calendars now!

Classes & Workshops:
Well it’s a new year and a perfect time to take a class and learn something new!

The Mandrel has lots of fun classes coming up, including Heather Trimlett, Hayley Tsang (wait list) and well, me, Jujee Beads. Check out the schedule HERE.

Beads of CourageAnd speaking of Heather, she is holding mini workshops at the Blue Dolphin in SanDiego. Heather and Kristina Logan will be holding a trunk show on January 13th. Then Kristina has a two day class Friday and Saturday. Check out the schedule HERE.

Pacific Art Glass always has workshops going on, flameworking, glass blowing, fusing and more! Check out their schedule HERE.

Brea Bead Works has flameworking and an array of beading, metal, PMC and enameling classes available. Check out their schedule HERE.

The Glass Studio in Highland Park, is the newest on the list. And this is where our next meeting will be held on March 19th, 2011.  The Glass Studio is owned by Cathi Milligan and offers all sorts of sorts of classes from bead making to mosaics! Check out the class page HERE.

Pasadena Bead & Design Show  January 13- 16th

Tucson Bead and Gem Shows begin late this month and continue into February. I found this website that has a list of all the shows, including the Tucson bead shows and gem & mineral shows.

bead bazaarAnd be sure to mark your calendar for theL.A. Bead Society Bazaar which will be held a month earlier, on March 20th. (the day after our meeting)

And make your plans now to visit the Las Vegas Glass Expo! All you favorite glass vendors, glass artists, amazing classes and Vegas Baby!

Well, I hope to see you at one of the shows, or maybe in a class…but for sure on the 19th at The Glass Studio.
