December 2011 NewsLetter

Happy Holiday Season!

puffinbeadI hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving day weekend and have recovered from your big turkey day! Or maybe you just relaxed from all that shopping you did? Well, the season has just begun. And what better way to kick it off with the SCFS Holiday meeting this Saturday, December 3rd at Pacific Art Glass.

This is a VERY important meeting to attend (and always a lot of fun too!) as we will be holding a live election to vote in your new board members for the 2012-2014 term. Each of you will receive (along with your holiday goodie bag!) a ballot with the names of the “candidates” plus a space for a write in if you would like to be part and have not stepped up yet.

Currently, the ballot will have the following candidates:
President:  Toni Tracy
Vice President:  StacyLynn Russom
Treasurer:  Karen Gassaway
Secretary:  open
Membership Chair:  Kathy Spignese
Hospitality:  Alaina Oreman
Raffle Chair: Shari Hagewood
Featured Artist Chair:  Holly Hughes
Web Mistress: Carey Conley
Beads of Courage Liason: Wendy Leys

Before the election actually takes place, technically, ALL the positions are open. Because we are a sub-chapter of the ISGB, we must hold a proper election to appoint new board members. If you would like to add you name to any position, please email me BEFORE December 2nd.

BeadLiner 2Our demo this year will be lining big hole beads with copper tubing. The demo doesn’t stop with just the demo…we will have a hands on set up for you to experiment lining your own bead. You must bring your own large hole bead (1/4″  hole, one per person please) and we will provide the presses and the copper tubing! These brand new bead liners are made by ImPress and will be raffled off after the demos, along with many other goodies.

catsOur bead exchange for this holiday is mini sets, 3 to 5 beads, any theme you like. Please wrap up your set and include your name so the recipient knows who to thank for the beautiful set they just received!

We will be serving up a hot and hearty lunch. Please bring a side dish, salad or sweet to share.

We have already booked The Mandrelfor the first SCFS meeting of 2012 on March 24th. Please mark your calendars now so you don’t mis out pn the first meeting with the new crew! We want to give them a warm welcome!

I will send out my last newsletter, before handing over the reigns to Toni Tracy, at the end of the year. But for now, I look forward to seeing you at Pacific Art Glass next Saturday at 10 am! Be sure to thank John for all of his wonderful support to the SCFS!
