Pasadena
Bead and Design Show
July
30 – August 2, 2009
Pasadena
Bead and Design Show is a semi-annual exposition that
showcases
compelling design and handwork, from traditional to
contemporary. The upcoming
event is located at:
The Hilton Pasadena,
168 South Los
Robles Avenue,
Pasadena, California
on July 30 through August 2, 2009,
and will be the fourth
show since January 2008.
If you are a
designer, art patron, collector, or design-savvy person, or
if you are an owner
of a gallery or boutique looking for an opportunity to
network with artists and
artisans, you will not want to miss Pasadena Bead and
Design Show.
The
show represents three
hundred exhibitors, each
selected for quality handwork
design in art jewelry, bead making, gold and
silversmithing, lapidary,
textiles, glass arts, enameling, ceramics, art couture,
designer components,
embellishments, handwovens, wearable art, metalwork,
antiquities, clay
arts, collectibles, jewelry trade supplies, and interior
décor.
Many
Pasadena Bead and Design Show exhibitors reflect several
generations of
artisans, while others have spent upwards of forty years
developing skills,
reviving lost techniques, working
with antique hand tools, and acquiring national and
international
reputations.
We also would like
to announce the first Celebration
with Wine Friday,
to be held at the Hilton Pasadena on July 31, 2009, from
6:30 – 8:30 PM. The
theme of this event is “How to Develop
Style with Artwear”, and renowned
designer Suzi Click, will host and moderate a fashion show
focused around the
clothing and jewelry designs of featured artists. A $35
admission price to CWF includes admission to the show for
all 4 days. Wine, coffee, soft drinks, and hors d’oeuvres
will be
served.
The goal of
Pasadena
Bead and Design Show is to present
something new and dynamic, organized around the theme of
traditional hand-work,
not as a single or consistent style or time frame, but as
an exposition of
hand-work from various cultures, mixing ancient and modern,
from
thousand-year-old carved amber beads to contemporary
wearable art.
The
January 2009 show was bustling with attendees
–merchants,
buyers, business owners, art lovers, and collectors.
According
to promoters of the show –“It was successful beyond our
expectations…with a
robust attendance.”
There
will be workshops in art clay silver, jewelry design and
marketing, bead making,
polymer clay, chainmaille, mixed media and found object
art, wirework, silk
painting, textile art, metalwork, hand knotting, and
kumihimo, along with free
seminars and forums.
The
show is open to the public and wholesale buyers, register
online or at the door.
$10 admission (good all four days). For registration,

workshop lists, and parking information, go to:
