PelicanHappy Summertime SoCal!

I hope everyone had a fun 4th holiday and enjoyed the wonderful summer weather!

I am gearing up for the ISGB Gathering coming up in a couple of weeks in Louisville, KY. This is such an amazing event! I know I will see a few of you there. And I will have lot to report to the rest of you when I return. It is mind blowing what you come away with after this conference! I hope you all can experience this one day, if you haven’t already.

Next year the Gathering will be taking place in Seattle, WA. I know, it’s still a trek, but closer than KY! And Seattle is SO beautiful, especially in the summer. There is a very large glass community in the area, plus the Tacoma Museum of Glass.  You might want to start thinking about it now.

Don McKinneyBack to So Cal, our next SCFS meeting will be at CBS on September 17th starting at the usual time of 10:00 am. We are pleased to have Don McKinney back to demo dichroic tips and tricks on the torch. Our bead exchange will be “Silver and Ivory”. This can be and type of silver (foil, leaf, mesh, wire, etc) on ivory glass. (not silver glass)
Please bring a snack, side or sweet for the pot luck lunch.

SCFS meeting
We need YOU!!
At the June meeting, we announced that the SCFS board needs “fresh blood” to step up and take over current positions. Most of the current board will be retiring at the end of this year. We will set up a vote online in the fall. PLEASE, if you want to see our club continue, consider becoming part of the board! Let’s keep the SCFS alive and going! Volunteer!

beadkeysWe will be holding a board meeting on August 27th (in Culver City) and encourage you to join us! This is open to all! Please let me know if you would like to attend.
Please email me if you would like to volunteer or need more info regarding positions.

August 6th & 7th, the Bead Society of San Diego County will be hosting their 12th annual Bead Bazaar. This is my favorite So Cal show! It is held at the Scottish Rite Center just off the 8 freeway. There is plenty of free parking and if you click HERE, there is a flyer with a coupon to save $1 off the $3 admission. There will be several familiar faces, lots of lampwork and plenty of beading supplies.

octopThere is a big list of classes happening as well. Please visit our CLASS page for links to the many local studios for current schedules.

Have a great rest of your summer and we hope to see you at CBS in September!
